Character NAME: Sawada Tsunayoshi [Tsuna]
Canon & MEDIUM: Manga
Canon PULL-POINT: There's not really a chapter to pinpoint for this, but roughly around the beginning of the fourth arc (future arc) of the series.
Character AGE: 25? 26? i have no clue KHR is fantastically mixed up with aging. Let's just say he's 25.
Character ABILITIES: Here. The abilities/weapons/attacks available are as follows:

Forms: Dying Will Mode, Hyper Dying Will Mode
Techniques: Vongola Hyper Intuition, Minus State, Zero Point Breakthrough Revised, Zero Point Breakthrough: First Edition, X-burner.

His forms or techniques may extend past what is listed; however, these are all the confirmed forms and techniques he learns before the future arc.

Typically, Tsuna is an ordinary young man. At this point in his life, he has trained enough that he has limited control over his flames without the use of his gloves while in one of his special forms, if he absolutely had to in a dire circumstance, or if for some reason, say, he couldn't access one of his special forms, and he needed to weaken the blow of some hit he has taken to his body. His powers would almost be completely useless, however, and would really only be able to carry out mundane tasks, such as lighting something on fire, warming it up, or providing a source of light.

The one ability he does have is his Hyper Intuition. It's used in one of three ways.
1) In battle, it's something like a psychic ability. It allows him to predict physical movements of his enemy if he's fighting against a human (or human enough; it's been shown to work on wretched experiments that used to be human, and also works for those who have human-like movements, so it'd probably work on any humanoid). It's not explicitly stated, but most likely, he needs to be in one of his special forms in order to use hyper intuition in this way.
2) Tsuna can tell if he's being exposed to illusions. In canon, Tsuna can only recognize this when he's in Hyper Dying Will Mode, but I'm willing to bet since ten years have passed, he can probably recognize this in his normal form as well.
3) Both in and out of battle, this ability works passively as what is more or less a sixth sense. Here is my permissions post for hyper intuition. Here is the part relevant to him:
So Tsuna has this thing called Hyper Intuition, which has three different functions. The one pertaining to this permissions post is that his hyper intuition acts as a sixth sense and basically allows him to be something like a passive empath. For example, if a character lies to him, he'll get a ~feeling~ that there's something "off" about what they're saying, or that they're being untruthful. Another example is if your character is feeling uneasy, he may feel a bit of this emotion himself, believing the "air to be tense" or something similar. He can also sense if a character is being possessed.

He can't read thoughts, a person whose mind is "jumbled" may cause ill effects, and it only works in person, and is generally "focused on" the person whom he is actively communicating with or has his attention on, or the people nearest to him, although if they're not in his focus (such as passerbys) he won't pick up on anything [or it may feel weaker than usual] unless there's a strong malicious intent.

In order for Tsuna to actually be of any use properly fight, he needs to go into Dying Will Mode or Hyper Dying Will Mode. The most obvious indicator that Tsuna is in one of these forms is the flame that is emitted from his forehead, which grows or shrinks depending on his strength.

Dying Will Mode is a form which "externally removes body limiters." In other words, he suddenly has physical capabilities that would make any athlete weep in envy. Strength, speed, and endurance are all greatly enhanced in this form. Generally, one enters this mode in one of two ways: by consumption of a singular dying will pill, or by being shot by a dying will bullet (in the forehead, specifically!). However, since Tsuna has been shown to be able to go into Hyper Dying Will Mode on his own, he could reasonably do the same for this mode. His personality changes dramatically, as he becomes loud, energetic, and rather extreme and reckless as he stops at nothing to achieve whatever regret he had last before he was shot.

Hyper Dying Will Mode (HDWM) is a form which "releases internal limiters, therefore releasing a person's hidden awareness". It puts extreme pressure on the body, making it feel "as though it were breaking". Strength, speed, and endurance are also greatly enhanced in his form. In addition, Tsuna can use the manga's equivalent of a life force in the form of flames. To enter this mode, one must be shot with a Criticism shot, or ingest two dying will pills; however, Tsuna accumulated enough experience to enter the form on his own. HDWM enhances Tsuna's senses and temporarily reduces his insecurities, causing him to be calm and collected, and even cocky. The known abilities he has access to are listed above.

What's not listed but it is pretty central to his method of fighting-- Tsuna can use dying will flames to propel himself through the air. And hover. ....... and stick to walls. Somehow. I don't know, manga logic.

Character HISTORY: From Daily Arc to Varia Arc.

Tsuna is, for all intents and purposes, a perfectly normal boy at the beginning of the series, if unlucky and defeatist (and possibly a little depressed). He's the school loser, known by everybody as "No-Good Tsuna", who consistently fails his tests (really, it's a wonder how he's even managed to make it to middle school), who can't do physical activities to save his life, and okay yeah pretty much just sucks at everything ever. So naturally his mom decides to take advantage of a convenient home tutor ad that came in the mail in order to see that her son actually get somewhere in life and not become a shut-in.

Except the home tutor is actually a dapper talking baby in a suit named Reborn. Who is also from the Mafia. And is actually supposedly the world's greatest hitman. (Protip: he probably actually is, given all the fame and credentials that come up for him during the series) Tsuna also discovers that he's the heir to the throne of the most influential Mafia family. As you may have guessed, Reborn's true purpose in teaching Tsuna is to prepare him for this role. Needless to say that many crazy and wacky shenanigans happen as a result of this, earning Tsuna even more of a reputation (except somehow it's better than what he had before, go figure) and a bunch of friends in the process.

In the Kokuyo arc, Tsuna is forced for the first time to seriously confront a serious enemy. After many of his classmates have been injured and hearing that one of his friends had been taken hostage to draw him out, Tsuna and co go to an abandoned zoo to rescue him (if rather reluctantly on Tsuna's part). Tsuna and his friends encounter many strange underlings of him and fight their way through them, gaining experience and showing how the time they've spent has bonded them as a group, changing some of their perspectives and goals. In particular, Tsuna displays his selflessness when his friends are in danger, getting punched by his friend and even offering to stab himself with a knife in order to keep them safe. In the end, when he finds himself in a dire situation against the illusionist himself, Tsuna overcomes his fears and resolves to beat the illusionist for the sake of his friends and successfully manages to do so, allowing them all to return home to peaceful lives.

Until the Varia arc, where Tsuna and his friends are faced to fight once again upon discovering there was a conflict in the succession of rights to the family throne between themselves and the family's elite assassin squad, the Varia. The stakes are considerably higher as the kids' lives are put in peril, and each of them go through extensive training in order to see that they beat their Varia counterpart. In this part, Tsuna recognizes the importance of training in order to prepare himself to protect him and his friends, and fully dedicates himself to getting stronger for the period of the battle. In the end, they realize the cause of the battle was the Varia's leader attempting to set up a scene which made it look as though Tsuna had murdered the ninth Vongola boss so that he could gain unequivocal support from his followers. However, Tsuna manages to avoid killing the boss, and successfully defeats Xanxus in the battle, earning the Vongola Sky Ring (and the rest of his rings for each of his 6 guardians) as proof of his inheritance and once again allowing him and his friends to continue living as normal.

At this point, the timeline diverges. At some point later, probably a couple or few years, Tsuna's bike breaks down, and he (properly) meets Irie Shoichi, a kid who got mixed up in mafia affairs when one of Tsuna's guardians, Lambo, crashed through the roof of his house (crack arc just go with it). After helping him fix his bike, Shoichi and Tsuna become good friends. It seems like an incredibly miniscule detail, but somehow this meeting enables this singular timeline a chance to defeat someone who's essentially a demi-god, so there you go.

Approximately ten years (particularly 9 years and 10 months) of experiences follows from the time around where the Future Arc begins in the "OU" timeline. It's not known for sure what happens, and the only thing that's really made explicitly clear is that at some point, Tsuna has accepted his role as the Vongola Mafia boss and is carrying out his duties as such. I like to put the time he accepted his title at around eighteen years of age, allowing him a few more years to live life as a regular kid (sprinkled with mafia-related incidences, of course) before he finally officially accepts his position in the Vongola Inheritance ceremony. In the following seven years, Tsuna and co learn how to establish themselves within the mafia and all the tricks and trades, before they set to work on slowly reversing its corruption. Additionally, at some point in those ten years, for one reason or another the Vongola Rings come up as a point of conflict, and in order to prevent any major battles from breaking out, Tsuna has the rings destroyed.

Except whoops, turns out they actually needed those rings because there's a big bad in town running the Millefiore family named Byakuran who has knowledge shared over all his parallel timelines, and he's kind of taking over the world. And naturally, with the Vongola family posing a threat, he comes after them. He doesn't just try to run them out or bankrupt them or anything like that, though; he ruthlessly starts hunting them and their allied families down. He also makes use of something called the Anti Tri-Ni-Set radiation, which slowly killed the Arcobaleno, holders of part of the Tri-Ni-Set-- one of them being Reborn.

Tsuna and his family no doubt made a valiant attempt to defeat him, but it really was too late by the time he'd revealed himself and/or came up on the radar. It's likely not long after Reborn perished-- most likely valiantly in battle, after too much exposure to the Tri-Ni-Set has finally taken its toll-- that Tsuna realized that the situation was dire, and that himself and his family were incapable of defeating Byakuran in the state they were in. It was then that he created an elaborate plan with Shoichi, which included faking his own death (and deceiving his own family as well) and erasing the memory of Shoichi's younger self (particularly of the parts regarding meeting Byakuran) and ultimately resulted in bringing his ten years younger self to the future with his friends and having them beat Shoichi in a harsh "training" session in order to prepare them to beat the Millefiore family. Considering this was the man who, as a kid, was strongly against his youngest guardian, Lambo, fighting, even after becoming his official guardian, and that this is the same kid who valued his friends above everything else, it's clear that this was an absolute last-ditch effort in an attempt to save the world. The last thing he remembers, then, is being shot by a special bullet which put him into a death-like coma state, and falling unconscious.

Character PERSONALITY: As a kid, Tsuna was lazy, awkward, defeatist, high-strung and an all-around loser. In any situation where he was challenged, he would often give up, run away, or if neither of the two were possible, failed it completely. However, underneath all the derp and fail was a surprisingly optimistic, kind and caring boy who invested everything he was worth into his friends. At this point in the series, Tsuna is only beginning to become aware of his potential and slowly gain confidence in himself. None-the-less, even then he has changed quite a bit from the beginning, from a boy who ran from everything and thought poorly of himself to a boy willing to fight for the sake of his friends, who believed he actually could protect him, given that he worked at it.

In the following years, Tsuna has had several battles and experienced and survived many tough situations with his friends, strengthening their bonds and raising his confidence. Ever since accepting his role as the Vongola boss, Tsuna has had to learn and grow, especially to handle all the responsibilities that were bestowed upon him. It goes without saying that Tsuna has matured into his role. Though at his core he still remains a kind-hearted person who has endless faith in his companions, being in the Mafia has caused some changes in him to make it necessary for him to survive in that kind of environment. The most recent year has been extremely brutal on him, and it may be awhile yet before he can recover... if he does at all.

One thing that I noticed almost immediately upon playing TYL Tsuna (and that I felt a need to exclaim to my friend who also plays him in a different game) was: Tsuna has his shit together like damn. Now that he's fully desensitized to the weirdness of the Mafia world and had several years to wind down, Tsuna is incredibly perceptive and intelligent. He may still only do well in basic math and can't exactly come up with a detailed battle plan on the spot, but as he's grown, his hyper intuition has developed with him. He can now easily recognize its effects and essentially read people like they're open books, and he generally tries to use this to his advantage in the sense of avoiding conflict and generally building good relations. However, he has, can, and will use this ability to help him manipulate people, though he only does this for the purpose of his job in the interest of swaying stubborn parties of malicious intent.

Despite what he's learned in order to maintain appearances, though, that's all they are; appearances. For all the power he's earned, he's no more power hungry than he was as a kid, and still keeps to the same morals and values he's had as a teenager. He will lie, cheat, bluff and threaten to subdue other families if he must, but the truth is that he hates hurting people as much as ever, and he hates violence even moreso. He only seldom engages in battle, and had only actually planned to do so perhaps once or twice in his lifetime. Even now, he absolutely refuses to take anyone's life, although he may have had to do so once before in order to protect the lives of himself and his friends.

In the way of self-confidence, Tsuna has grown up a lot; he no longer doubts himself nearly as much as he used to, and no longer thinks of himself as "No-Good Tsuna". Tsuna has the confidence in himself to take authority and initiative, to trust his own judgment over others', and to carry out the tasks that's needed of him. However, this doesn't mean his doubts have completely gone away. Being in the Mafia can be scary business, and his concerns are less "can I do this?" and have become more of "am I doing the right thing?" as he surprises even sometimes himself in how manipulative he can be to achieve his ends. He also has come to recognize that... well, his life kind of sucks and it's always going to suck, and is more openly cynical about that fact.

As you may have noticed, it's impossible to describe Tsuna without mentioning the Mafia. His job as the Vongola boss has taken over his life, and he's well aware of it. He has to work constantly and often overtime in order to make sure that everything run as smoothly as possible. For a long time he had held reservations about becoming a boss, for two big reasons: 1) it's an incredibly dangerous and nefarious sort of job, and he didn't want his friends or him to suffer the consequences, and 2) he lacked the self-confidence to believe he could actually carry out the sort of things that would be expected from him in that job. It took him a few years to see that they were already too invovled in the mafia to really get out, and to build up that sort of confidence, but when he accepted the job, he accepted it entirely and fully, not simply resigning himself to his fate, but recognizing that there was no one better for the job than himself, and that he alone, with his guardians, was capable of guiding the Mafia back onto a more benevolent path.

Speaking of his guardians-- Tsuna still holds his friends in the highest regards. Several years worth of time together has strengthened their bonds considerably, and while Tsuna had so vehemently opposed the idea of calling them his "family" as a kid (for reasons of not wanting to associate them with the Mafia), he now easily considers them as such, regardless of Mafia connotations. His friends are absolutely his foundation and support, and he trusts all of them unequivocally to do whatever is needed of them. In fact, whenever he doubts himself in his work, he remains confident by confiding in his friends and trusting them wholly to stop him or tell him if he should ever come a little too close to becoming corrupted.

And really, I think I've probably already said enough, but as I mentioned earlier, the most recent year has been hard on Tsuna, and I think it bears mentioning saying how heavily it's weighed on him. The first thing that happened was the Millefiore family hunting his and his allied families down. That was scary. For as long as he'd been in the Mafia up until this point, and has doubtlessly had to deal with attacks on his family, as well as assassination attempts on his life, he'd never before had to deal with what was essentially a planned, ruthless serial killing-- and it was working. Suddenly, his job is no longer about keeping other families checked and trying to turn things around, but it's become a matter of survival once more, and it's not a feeling he's missed. He's not willing to back down or out, of course, if he even could, but the situation has become pretty stressful.

The second thing that happens following the "Vongola hunting" is the death of Reborn. Specifically, all of the Arcobaleno are killed (saved for the half-cursed Arcobaleno, Lal Mirch), but the one that strikes him hardest is undoubtedly the death of his tutor. Reborn has been a staple in his life ever since he was hired as a home tutor, and his death is a crushing blow to Tsuna, who considers him family at this point. It's made him seriously doubt himself and question his methods, wondering what he'd done wrong, wondering if there was anything he could have done to prevent his death. The person who has consistently been a guiding presence in his life is no more; he now has to face the wrath of the Millefiore family and continuing leading the Vongola family without him. The situation has become dire, and now he honestly fears for the lives of the rest of his friends and himself. It is most likely this event where he realizes that he and his family simply aren't capable of handling the situation anymore, which leads to the third point.

Tsuna and Irie formulate the plan to bring Tsuna and his guardians' younger selves to their timeline in order to defeat Byakuran. It's nothing less than a last-ditch effort in order to save the world, as mentioned in the history. And it is this plan that weighs as heavily as his tutor's death on his shoulders, maybe even more so. Not only must he deceive his own family, whom he holds incredibly dear to his heart, into thinking that he has died, but he is forced to jeopardize the lives of innocent children, and honestly, at this point, he doesn't even know if it's going to work. He realizes that after getting shot with the special bullet, he may actually be signing his death warrant (though really, death seemed imminent anyway at this point) and not come back at all. He may be sending their younger selves right to an early grave. He's essentially betraying his friends and risking the lives of children, and it may be all for naught.

I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but the last year has been pretty awful to Tsuna. As a result, his confidence has suffered, and his state of mind has suffered. Really, I wouldn't even be surprised if everything that's happened has driven him (possibly back, if he did in fact experience it as a teenager) to minor depression. While learning of what Exsilium, and especially the Initiative has to offer in terms of technology may be enough to give him hope and a second wind, it's going to take awhile for Tsuna to really recover from the traumatic experiences he has gone through. None-the-less, if things go well for him within exsilium, I'm sure the shonen within him will find a way to resurface.

Chosen WEAPON: Tsuna will be using his X-Gloves Version Vongola Ring from home. Tsuna's physical capabilities really don't need much help at this point, so instead, the gloves will produce a magic shield wherever Tsuna cannot defend from an attack. Additionally, it will also have this effect on nearby allies. The shield will be weak and break from only a few hits when he first gets it, but as the weapon grows, they will become stronger. Eventually it will be able to cast a sphere-shaped barrier around Tsuna which can protect him and the people near him. AND THEN MAYBE ONE DAY it will finally evolve into his Version Vongola Gear X-Gloves though seriously look at how tacky those things are, what kind of suit or outfit goes with stop-sign red gauntlets.

I am not entirely sure on how it's going to evolve, but it will probably be something like training or usage of it being a part of it, but the majority of its evolution being dependent on the number of friends he has, and how deep of a bond he has with them. And then his gloves' new ability gets a little "boost" in battle if he's fighting alongside those friends.

Character INVENTORY: Vongola Decimo boss uniform and cape, X-Gloves version Vongola Ring, yep that's pretty much it

First PERSON: [Tsuna appears outside some small, nondescript restaurant, looking a little... strained.]

Sometimes, you think you've seen it all.

And then when you ask for fish, you're delivered a fish. With a horse's head and what could have possibly passed as humanoid arms.

That was still alive.

[Tsuna is trying..... very hard to keep his composure here. He inhales deeply, then exhales.]

Someone... please reassure me this is not the typical sort of meal found here. And if someone could direct me to a restaurant which has food that looks suitably Earth-like and edible and definitely dead, I would really appreciate it.

For... another time, that is. Suffice to say my appetite's been rather thoroughly ruined for now.

[He pauses.]

By the way, you probably don't want to eat at Zeke's. Just thought you all should know.

Third PERSON: It takes a bit for Tsuna to come to his senses when he awakens. Understandably so; his body had been in a state of death just before the fact, so feeling that familiar warmth of blood flowing through his body when before it had become unsettling cold was confusing, to say the least. And then he remembers what's happened, his plan that he executed with Shoichi, and with a gasp, he nearly springs up, heart alive with hope. Had it worked out, had his plan succeeded? Did his younger selves truly defeat Byakuran? If they had, then finally, for the first time in several months, something had gone right instead of terribly wrong, and if they had, maybe, just maybe they could finally return to their somewhat-not-really normal Mafia lives.

But the room he's in is not a familiar one. His stomach drops, then, as he gets to a stand, and looks around. Maybe the opposite had happened. Maybe the Millefiore family had found out his plan, had found his body and brought him here. And yet-- he had his weapons on him. And really, at this point, what purpose could he serve alive? It'd have been much easier to just kill him while he wouldn't put up a fight.

His thoughts were interrupted by the woman entering the room, and he looked over at her. She wasn't even remotely familiar, which was both disappointing and relieving. Her clothes also didn't look to be of the Millefiore's style... or of any family he knew.

"Welcome to Exsilium," she says to him, and he blinks at her, looking at her like she's grown a second head.

"... eh?" he responds intelligently.

"There is much to discuss," she added.

He stares at her more, wracking his brain, but comes up with absolutely nothing. He'd never even heard of the word before. When she smiles politely and urges him to come along, he does so, more baffled than anything else.

"Um, forgive me for being so crude and blunt, but..... what... is exactly is going on?" Tsuna asked, feeling a little sheepish. She gently explains to him that they'll get right to that after he chooses a weapon. It was, after all, a little bit more than she could simply explain in a short time.

"But, I was..." And then he gave an aggravated sigh. He has no idea what sort of mess he's gotten into, but oh man getting into something else is seriously the last thing he needs right now. But taking it out on this woman wasn't going to do him any good, and his explanation was apparently going to come, just not immediately. As rattling as it is, he decides to press aside his own issues for the moment.

... she's already going off about the weapons anyway. Semi-sentient, huh? Were they like the Vongola rings, then, or maybe box weapons? Either way, he could tell that these people clearly were well-equipped and advanced in technology. It was such a vast array of weapons, and really, it could support a small militia. Whatever was going on, they were preparing him for battle, which meant he wasn't a hostage. Not... that he could see yet, anyway. And he also noticed he wasn't being given a choice. In weapons, yes, but whether he actually wanted a weapon or not...

Oh fucking hell, he was getting drafted for some kind of war, wasn't he? For what war and between whom, he didn't have the slightest, but there was one thing he knew for sure.

This was going to be a long day.
